Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has just completed her sojourn to the United States, during which she visited and celebrated the 400th Anniversary of Jamestown, the first official settlement of the Americas.

Quoted From Welcome to the official web site of the British Monarchy
Her Majesty & Prince Philip rounded off the visit with a formal dinner in Washington D.C. at the White House as President & First Lady Bush's guest. Says Queen Elizabeth in her White House speech: "Mr. President, thank you for inviting Prince Philip and me to visit your country to share in the commemoration of the Jamestown anniversary, and to have this opportunity to underline the extent of our friendship, past, present and future. It is indeed a pleasure for us be here in Washington again and to be welcomed back to the White House."

    The Writing Prompt Exercise
Imagine you're sitting next to the Queen of England at a White House dinner. What do you say to her?

In a 2 or 3 paragraph essay OR 20 - 30 line poem, write your response to the above question. The piece may be about the Queen's visit to the States or based on a totally different issue --- such as the beauty of her jeweled crown. Perhaps the piece should be a conversational about the award winning movie starring Helen Mirren as The Queen or a soliloquy about how jealous you are of her ruffled gown OR maybe a rambling on how well she has aged through the years...

The subject matter may be political, a friendly admiration or anything really. The writing is at the total descretion of you --- The Artiste.

    Stipulation:
The following phrases must be used within the writing:
    • Oh Canada
    • Exquisite lingerie
    • Resources for poesy
    • French cuisine
    • American pie
    --------------------------------------------------
    --------------------------------------------------

I think this should be quite fun, as well as immensely challenging. And as there is no set structure - there should be many different styles, diverse voices & an interesting melange of wit shown in the various writings.

The object of course is to get those creative juices flowing! So have fun AND Happy posting!

    Jacquii.

Sweet Lady of the Bejeweled Crown
    Of the disguised exquisite lingerie...
hidden beneath the folds of petals
Of Flowers from your precious gems.

    Oh Canada she's given you,
The roar of falls and streams
That echo in your gentle eyes
    Sweet Lady oh Divine.

Let me feed you from my hands
    This sweet american pie
Ignore the tastes you dine at home
Bland english chips or french cuisine.

Revel in our hopes, Queen of England
And bring sense back to our lives
You are our Resource of Poesy,
    Our Gem and Our Flower.

You are what we wish we could be.

Extremely intuitive, Sealiah...as if you're speaking for most of the American people here...I love it...it takes into account all the trappings of royalty and rolls it out like a red carpet for us to saunter down slowly, savoring each and every line....spectacular response to this challenge...like PD says...u sure raised da bar.... (if this was a limbo dance I'd say you lowered it!) :bass:

Oh Canada, they kicked you out!
We Americans shall exclaim and shout
for the sake of “celebritism”….that is
You came to us riding on a white steed
In victory though your heart did bleed

I saw you standing on the edge of Knights
Exquisite lingerie so lacy and white
so unlike your usual starched drawers!
They saluted with swords, their Queen of Sighs
Dipping to see your wrinkled thighs

    Oh Majesty, forgive the president
Unknowing which year you came and went
He fell on his head as a baby I think!
Your supreme politeness allowed us to whisper
Resources in poesy for your timeless ear

Take a look at this American pie
Don’t ask where, when, how or why
Or you’re sure to get very crossed eyes!
It’s mixed with apple, cream cheese and rye
To put a twinkle in your old blue eyes

    Don’t partake of French cuisine
It all conspires to make you lean
Just learn to say no to frogs once in a while!
We’ll put some meat on those ancient bones
So Phillip won’t think he’s all alone
    In the bed…that is!

Yes, indeed...very excellent movie...loved it!! Isn't it the strangest thing how Royals fascinate us? Life on the other side, I guess...though all the restrictions would certainly not suit my lifestyle...hmmm...maybe that's why the young'uns are breaking out of the mold. lol!

    Your Majesty, Your Majesty
    Miss Queen, Miss Queen
I’m digging you sporting all that bling-bling
Your gown is tight, with all them ruffles and things
Oooo… look at you, that crown matches your ring
I really like your style, and you age very well
Wearing that lingerie, brings you out of your shell
All the older men at this table is under your spell
When I grow up I want to be just like you
Rocking all that fly jewelry, while sporting that hair do
What did you think of the President?
Did you chill with his wife?
Did you two exchange stories of living a fairy tale life?

How did you like the food? You should come to my crib
I will cook you some good sh**, way better than them ribs
Matter fact, here is my address. We’re having a cook out tonight
Stop thru there, before you jump on that flight
They’ll be some chicken, some steak, and some black eyed peas
Potato salad, desert and some good ole country iced tea
I got some homemade BBQ sauce that you won’t be able to resist
And if you don’t want to get all messy, I will fry you some fish
You would get along real well with my auntie Janine
She starts the party as soon as she steps on the scene
She smokes a little herb and she is real serene
Very down to earth if you know what I mean
She’s around your age, but still has a good time
She don’t take no mess, she keeps the youngster’s in line
So come on thru, you will be just fine
And bring Prince Phillip; we got something for him to do
The guys will be playing craps, pool and some basket ball too
We want to show yall how we do it in the dirty south
    Cause you a bad mutha….
(And Queen Elizabeth cuts me off and says)
    “Shut your mouth”

**she shakes my hand and whispers to me, we’ll be there**
