The cold autumn winds cannot reunite leaves
with trees-the robins rain enraptured eyes
and wind waltzed wings tempt caged tears that grieve.
A widow plants flowers-her old man lies
ready to caress the contours of a rose,
his fingers are phantoms too frail to grip
a swaying rose as the cemetery gates close
and with newly found notes the robin slips
into a rhapsody. Fingers rove across
thorns, a flower soothed into stillness
a wifes haunted heart made still by the loss
of harking for the music of madness.
Under red winter skies a robin bathes
snow falls from thorns below ice captured graves.

    Hi Moondance
I really enjoyed this poem. Although short it sparked a lot of thoughts within me. Its very delicate and kind of haunting, but very beautiful.

this is righteous ! and I fall short of words to praise the Beauty you have captured in this little piece. Im a cemetery person and not in morbid way but the stillness and the quite of humanity inside its premises is fascinating .. its almost as if humanity loses its importance here and nature takes over, the birds the flowers the winds the trees and the soft bed of leaves underfoot, it demystifies death and makes it a welcome conclusion to the chaos of life. I feel inspired.

I enjoyed this sonnet as well! It's so perfectly editorial to me, these abstract concepts:
    1. Wind-waltzed wings tempting caged tears
    2. Fingers as frail phantoms
    3. The robin slipping into song
Yeah - These abstract concepts are giving me life.
    Nicely done moondancemoondance! Nicely done!

Moondance this is Exquisite. I love how you have captured every thought and emotion and color and sound that a visit to a departed loved one emits. Extremely beautiful.. I am gonna favorite this one too. Thank you for postingMoondance.
