    Caesura is a grammatical pause or break in a line of poetry -- often marked by punctuation or by a grammatical boundary -- usually near the middle of the line. A caesura is usually dictated by sense or natural speech rhythm rather than by metrics.

    It's conventional to mark the caesura with the double bar ||
